Dhanjuri Catholic Church
A VILLAGE CHURCH WAS BUILT ON THE LAND DONATED BY TRIBAL PEOPLE

 


DINAJPUR, Bangladesh : December 23, 2002 : People of JOLAGHUTU, Aftabgonj, Nawabgong Dinajpur donated a piece of land for building a church there. The area of the land is about 33 decimals. On the donated land a church was built with the partly contribution form local priest of Dinajpur Diocese. Bishop Moses Costa CSC, bishop of Dinajpur inaugurated this church on 23rd December 2002.
 After the welcoming ceremony the newly built church was blessed. It was named the church of St. John the apostolic. Mr. John (70), a pioneer Christian in the area donated the land and bishop mentioned in his sermon that this church was named at St. John to show honour to Mr. John.
 During the mass, 32 people from 10 families were baptized. In the JOLAGHUTU and KHALIPPUR area there are about 400 families and of them 10 families were baptized. The rest are taking preparation to be Christian.
 Fr. Cherubim Bakla (the parish priest), Fr. Ovidio Lakra (asstt. Parish priest) were present along with Bishop. There were about 200 people joined to the holy mass. END

1) BIRBAHA is village of Dhanjuri Catholic Church of Dinajpur Diocese. It is about 45KM from Dinajpur Bishop’s House and about 15 KM from the Parish Centre.
