Kellabari Catholic Church
128 PERSON WERE BAPTIZED BY BISHOP MOSES

 
DINAJPUR, Bangladesh: December 21, 2002 : Bishop Moses Costa CSC, Bishop of Dinajpur Diocese, baptized 128 person of 32 family at KUDRO BAGH BAR, Badargonj, Rangpur on 21st December 2002. Among these 128 persons, the youngest one is only 1 month old and the eldest one is 72 years old. These people were prepared for the baptism for more than two years.
 The people of the village welcome Bishop Moses Costa CSC when he arrived from Dinajpur at 9:00 am. The people laid down their cloths on the road and bishop walked on it.
 After the welcoming ceremony, bishop offered the holy mass. Fr. Michael Cruze (the parish priest) and Fr. Cyril Toppo (asstt. Parish Priest) were present during the mass. In the sermon bishop requested the new Christians to do three things in their life to be a good Christian. They are, a) regular prayer, b) building a community and c) to be educated. After the sermon, the baptism sacrament was given to 128 people. There were about 250 persons attended to the mass.
 After 1990, the good news of the God was preached this area. In 1998, a village church was built here (capacity about 200 person) and Bishop Moses Costa CSC inaugurated it in 21st December 1998. On that day Bishop Moses Costa, CSC, baptized 15 families. There are 65 families in the KUDRO BAGH BAR village. Of them 15 were baptized in 1998 and 32 on 21st December 2002. The rest will be baptized very soon; they are taking preparation. All the people are belong to a low caste of Hinduism named ‘Raut’. The main profession of the people is to catch snakes from the jungles and paddy field and sell them. These people are not actually the snake charmer. Each snake is being sold by 250 to 300 taka. Note :
1) KUDRO BAGH BAR is village of Kellabari Catholic Church. Kellabari is about 60KM from Dinajpur Bishop’s House. This Kellabari Church is the newest Parish of Dinajpur Diocese. This parish was declared as parish in 1998.
2) The village church was built with the financial assistant by the relatives and friend of Sister Silvia SC. She died in early 2002.
